How to completely backup iPhone 7Plus, 7, 6Plus, 6, SE, 5s, or 4s to computer through iTunes
You can backup your iPhone 7Plus/7/6Plus/6s/6/SE/5s/5c/5/ 4s devices in many ways, such as backing up to iCloud, backing up to a computer through iTunes, or backing up with other third party tools.
Doing a completely backup for your iPhone is necessary, if don't want to lose data or files by accident, especially when doing these following operations:
- Upgrading iOS to newer version
- Doing a jailbreak
- Resetting to factory setting
You can completely back up your contacts, photos, videos, music, Apps, bookmarks, messages, notes, calendar, voice memos and other files from your iPhone to a computer through iTunes.
To back up your iPhone to computer through iTunes:
Step 1. Download and install iTunes to your computer where you want to back up iPhone to.
If you have installed iTunes on your computer before, launch it and update it to the newest version.
Step 2. Connect your iPhone to computer with the USB cable.
If it is the first time to connect your iPhone to your computer, go to your iPhone, and tap on "Trust". You will be also required to enter the passcode on your iPhone to unlock your iPhone if it is currently locked with password. If iTunes doesn't respond when you connect to your iPhone, click here.
Step 3. Click on the phone icon.
Step 4. Select "This computer" to do a full backup of your iPhone to this computer.
Below Backups you can select backup to iCloud or this computer. Here we are going to back up iPhone to the computer, so select "This computer".
Step 5. Click on "Back UP Now" button. Then it will begin to back up your iPhone to iTunes.
If the backup includes your health and passcode information, it is highly recommended that you encrypt iTunes backup with password. Select "Encrypt iPhone backup", and set password to protect it. But remember to make a note of the password and restore it to a safe place, because you won't be able to use the backup file to restore your iPhone if forgot your iPhone backup encrypted password.
